TWEET IT: GRAMMY winning artist @amywinehouse will once again return to the stage for a holographic concert. @BASEHologram is bringing the iconic singer known for hit songs “Rehab” and “Back to Black” on a worldwide tour starting Fall 2019.
Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2018) – Today, BASE Hologram, the leading live entertainment content creator leveraging holographic film technology to produce live entertainment tours and attractions worldwide, announced a new partnership with the estate of Grammy winning artist Amy Winehouse to celebrate her legacy.
The iconic singer known for hit songs “Rehab,” “Back to Black” and “Valerie,” will once again return to the stage, giving her fans the chance to see her in concert one more time – or in some cases for the first time. Utilizing new state-of-the-art proprietary technology, the production will launch towards the end of 2019. Featuring digitally remastered arrangements of her classics, the hologram will be backed by a live band, singers and theatrical stagecraft.
“Earlier this year we launched BASE Hologram with tours featuring two music icons who redefined the live concert theatrical experience in truly unique ways, and we look forward to continuing new creative and emotional opportunities with Amy Winehouse,” said Brian Becker, Founder & CEO, BASE Entertainment and BASE Hologram. “Amy was a powerhouse in every sense of the word. She played by her own rules, pioneered her own sense of style of music and because of that we know she is the perfect person to headline this type of project.”
Known just as much for her iconic beehive hair-do, Cleopatra-style eyeliner and array of tattoos, the singer took pride in writing the majority of her deeply personal tracks that fused pop, jazz, soul and R&B elements. She is the first British singer to have won five Grammy awards and at the time tied with Beyoncé Knowles for the most Grammy wins in one night by a female artist.
“As a family, we felt ready to bring Amy’s incredible talent back to the spotlight, give her fans a chance to experience her music again and for new generations to continue to discover her,” says Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse. “We experienced first-hand how these hologram shows celebrate great artists. This is a wonderful way to bring focus back to her musical legacy, as well as raising funds for the Amy Winehouse Foundation. It’s time to remind everyone that Amy was one of the great musicians and performers.”
The tour was announced by Mitch Winehouse and BASE Hologram CEO of Productions Marty Tudor at the Amy Winehouse Foundation’s annual gala in London. The Foundation works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people. The group also aims to support, inform and inspire vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to help them reach their full potential. The Winehouse family and BASE Hologram are finalizing plans, to be announced in the future, to incorporate fundraising and awareness campaign for The Amy Winehouse Foundation in concert with the worldwide tour.
“Amy was an extraordinary individual who had an unbelievable passion for both her music and her fans,” said Tudor. “This tour will tap into that devotion and remind people of her amazing voice and all of her contributions to the world of music. In addition, we are proud to be a part of contributing to the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Amy’s legacy of commitment to others in need.”
The Winehouse hologram concert will join BASE Hologram’s current touring shows “In Dreams: Roy Orbison – The Hologram Concert,” and “Callas in Concert,” as well as next year’s location-based project “Discoveries: Jack Horner’s World of Dinosaurs” which will transport audiences back to the Jurassic era alongside one of the world’s leading paleontologists. “In Dreams” is presently playing in North America and tickets can be purchased at www.orbisoninconcert.com. This Fall “Callas in Concert” is touring North America and Europe and tickets can be purchased at www.callasinconcert.com.
